Typically in charge of managing the household staff and overseeing various aspects of household management. The role of a butler historically originated in large, wealthy households, where the butler would be responsible for tasks such as serving meals, maintaining the household’s silverware and china, managing the wine cellar, coordinating the schedules and duties of other servants, and ensuring that the household ran smoothly and efficiently.

Butlers are often portrayed as highly skilled and dignified individuals who possess a thorough understanding of etiquette and protocol. They may also act as a personal assistant to the head of the household, handling correspondence, making travel arrangements, and managing household finances.

In modern times, the traditional role of the butler has evolved, and while the position still exists in some affluent households, it may encompass a broader range of responsibilities or be adapted to suit contemporary lifestyles and needs.
